Then we drove to Lake Atitalan by way of the Pacaya Volcano and Antigua. We rented horses for $20 a piece and rode them to the top of the volcano, 5 miles round trip. It was fun. We enjoyed getting to know our tour guides as well.
Our next stop was Antigua. Navigating the streets was an adventure today, but we enjoyed every moment - seeing the way the people live in each of the towns is very interesting. They are so kind and helpful. We asked for directions all along the way.
Antigua was fantastic! It is a little European-like town with cobblestone streets. The 16th century cathedral is partially standing. We loved walking the streets and buying some beautiful hand-made souvenirs.
Then on to our final destination, Lake Atitlan Hotel in Panajachal. The drive was a little intense, but we made it to this beautiful resort-like hotel overlooking the lake. I can't wait to see it in the light (we arrived well after dark).
My apologies again for way too many pics, and that they are out of order.
