Guatemala Day 4 - Guatemala City - General Conference, Temple, MTC

This morning we had an amazing breakfast buffet in the hotel - they had the best of everything Guatemalan, plus some.  We then watched General Conference on my laptop.  The internet is a great miracle.  Between sessions we caught a taxi into town to see the city.  I was fascinated by the market.  We walked into the 16th Century cathedral during mass.  It was great.

We then drove to the temple, couldn't find a church that was showing conference, so we parked un the shade and listened to it on my cell phone.  After conference we ran into three couples serving temple missions.  They were the sweetest people from Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

As we drove away, we noticed a whole bunch of missionaries outside a building.  We flipped around and pulled into the parking lot.  It was an MTC with 150 missionaries.  The mission president and his wife were just getting into their van.  It was fun to talk to them and learn about their experience, particularly since the change was made in mission ages creating a surge in missionaries and a shorter stay at the MTC.

Pics are out of order again.  My apologies...but it's time for bed.

History and prophecies of the Lamanites as recorded in the Book of Mormon:
Title page: 1st two lines (The Book of Mormon was written for the Lamanites)
1 Nephi 22:8
2 Nephi 30:3-6
Jarom 1:2
Alma 9:16-17
Helaman 15:12-17
Moroni 1:4
Enos 1:13-18
Words of Mormon 1:11
1 Nephi 15:14
Mormon 7:1

We had a "Sunday School Lesson" and Brent read these scriptures about the people in the Book of Mormon.  Many believe that the Mayan people stem back to the civilisations in the Book of Mormon.  The dates of the ruins line up pretty well, and there are other evidences.
